Frosty

It has been cold. But no sign of growth yet. There are 22 cuttings still staked and upright. 

Another two are in the ground but at an angle.

Apple hedge

Two weeks ago I planted 26 cuttings from our apple trees around the front.
So far none have sprouted, good. Because starting tomorrow it will be very cold and possibly snowy.

One is now missing and a couple more have been knocked at an angle. The daytime highs have not reached ten celcius yet.

The scions are Bramleys Seedling, Cortland, Gravenstein, Golden Russet, and Transparent.

The pear is budding early but the apples are dormant.

We shall see.
